Trauma Stabilization + Treatment Planning: A Road Map

Gain clarity about what to do, when, and why in supporting trauma survivors

Taught By Sharon Gold-Steinberg, PhD

Trauma Stabilization & Treatment Planning: A Road Map

Expert guidance to help you conceptualize and customize trauma treatment for your clients

In this 6-hour workshop, recorded live in the spring of 2021, Dr. Gold-Steinberg employs the metaphor of a car journey to engage therapists in gaining a clear “road map” of what to do, when, and why in the process of trauma treatment planning and stabilization. To guide clients (and themselves) safely on the path to trauma recovery, therapists need a conceptualization of both the type of trauma they are treating and the appropriate phase of treatment to prioritize in any given session.

To navigate trauma memory processing, they need to grasp how, when, and whether to help their clients remember while making it different. Finally, the video course teaches therapists how to usher clients through making meaning of what they have survived and learning to integrate (or re-integrate) rest, play, and joy in their lives.

The “Road Map” guides you on the often bumpy terrain of:

  • Therapist self-care

  • Sustainable roles and boundaries

  • Treatment phase by type of trauma

  • Flashback halting

  • Affect (co-)regulation

  • Dealing with self-harm

  • Parts work in trauma treatment

  • When & how to reprocess memories

  • Meaning-making and reconnection

Testimonials

“Sharon is so engaging!... It was nice to start with a bit of theory and then to dive into lots of clinical applications. I love walking away from a workshop feeling like I can do something right away. The metaphor of the road/driving was also really helpful. Lastly, the demos within the workshop of some of the exercises were great.”

“The entire workshop helped me integrate my learnings and experiences as a trauma therapist. Specifically, I loved how Sharon combined parts work, phase based treatment and other trauma-related aspects of treatment to provide us with a model which we can directly apply to our cases.”

“Sharon is so knowledgeable and passionate about the material. She is a great presenter and I appreciated the real world examples.”
